Well, if you haven't seen this yet you won't get a chance. They only had three performances. That's a shame, because this is a piece of rare depth and spirit that deserves top billing. SM,RT was a movement piece with virtually no dialogue and very little music. It takes tremendous courage for dancers to perform without music; these four British women succeeded in presenting their themes purely on their own skill. I was transfixed for the entire hour. Each of the 4 pieces was performed by a different solo artist. All four were completely different. It's hard to say which stood out the most - I really enjoyed Polly Walker's evocative piece on distance and loneliness, but all four really stood up to each other. The second piece, Waiting for Richard, will probably linger in my memory the longest. The performer's intesity was gripping (and her hair unforgettable). Hopefully all or at least some of these performers will make a return trip to San Francisco.

This collection of pieces was completely different than anything I've ever seen, while remaining totally accessible. I was captivated by the performers' commitment and energy. They are incredible movement artists, using everything they have available to them-- down to their hair and eyes-- to create an atmosphere. I was blown away. Honesty and humor and extraoardinary vulnerability shine through all the pieces. Go see it. It'll be a unique experiences, guaranteed.
